Well it's been a long winter and now that Spring is in the air, so will be the music of Kim and Annie!... starting on
Friday, 4/4/08: we'll be back up at the Klein Brot Haus in Brookston, our very favorite venue. It'll definitely be good to be back there.
I'm pretty excited to be getting into playing out again. My little pumpkin is 4 months old now and much more social than she used to be. She has her own list of favorite Kim & Annie songs, and I'm hoping that her first time seeing her mama play out will be a happy one for her.
We also had the opportunity to play at the New Community School a few weeks ago for their library festival. Mayor Roszwarski was there reading stories to them and we supplied a little bit of music. We got to meet a funny little 5th grader who had a very interesting catalogue of songs in his head! Very unique for an 11-year-old.
We hope to see you all at KBH in a few weeks!

PodCast!
I finally listened to the J&C podcast that we did some weeks ago. Here is the link: http://jconline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=PODCASTS
Surprisingly enough, I didn't think we sounded too much like idiots!! On my computer the sound was a little squiggly, I don't know if it was just my computer or if it came out that way. Anyway, fun times!
And CONGRATULATIONS to Kim who made his first blog post the other day!! Hooraaaaay!

More Shows and A Few Minor Details
(Hello, it's Kim's first post.)
This Saturday's show at the Delphi Public Library begins at 7:00. We will be joined by George Buechley on 12 string guitar and dobro (!!!) and Ian Thompson (check out his recording/rehearsal space/music lessons studio, The Vaults, in downtown Lafayette) on bass. We are also being billed as (forgive us) Hoot and Annie.
Friday's date at the Klein Brot Haus is actually 10/26 and I think it might just be me (no Annie) all alone. We will be back at the Klein Brot Haus on November 9.
Halloween night (oooH), October 31, I'm playing with Jacob Sunderlin and Megan Wells at the Skylight Coffee House 7-9. It's an evening of Lou-grass. All Velvet Underground and Lou Reed songs. So put on your dark glasses and be there.
And there's a new west side Java Roaster, at the corner of Robinson and Salisbury. We will be there Friday, November 2 from 6-8.
And last, for now, but not least, there's a brand new coffee shop opening this Friday, October 19, on upper Main Street, next to Randy Ross' framing gallery and across from the wine and cheese shop. With very good coffee. I will be in musical residency on Thursdays from 5-7. Hopefully with Annie and other friends sitting in more often than not. So come check it out.

Music for Middle-Schoolers
This morning I (Annie) was honored with the title of "guest composer" in the music room at St. Boniface middle school. The 4th, 5th and 6th graders are learning about composers and Mrs. Hasser the music teacher has broken away from the thought that "composer"= "classical" (="boring" to most kids that age.) It was a real treat! I played 3 original songs and one non-original song to give them all a taste of Bob Dylan, and they were SO attentive and interested. They asked really great questions and were so easy to talk to. Some were more interested in the music writing process while others showed more interest in the performing aspect of songwriting, but everyone was so great! I gave Kim all the credit where it was due, going on about how HE taught me how to play banjo and mandolin and more good songs than I ever would've learned on my own, etc.
So anyway, it was an interesting morning and a really fun experience.
In performance news, we might have a November 2nd date coming up; I'll keep you posted.

Whoops...
I realize now after reading back over the past posts that I had the date of last Friday's show as July 28 instead of September 28. Whoops! Hopefully anyone who reads this is smarter than I am and realized the mistake.
I don't know why this is underlined all of a sudden, I can't turn the underlining off. Anyway, nothing on the menu until 10/20, due to birthdays and THE FEAST OF THE HUNTERS MOON (!!!!!) so maybe we'll see you all at the Klein Brot Haus!
And maybe next time I post, the whole thing won't be underlined!!
